This baby red fox (Vulpes vulpes) rests in the grass while waiting for his mother who is hunting nearby. Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge in Delaware provides valuable habitat for the American Red Fox. Red foxes are known for their intelligence and adaptability. Their range extends across much of North America, including the east coast. Red foxes are opportunistic and their diet consists of rodents, rabbits, birds, fruit, vegetables, or frogs. The average life span in the wild is only 2-4 years.
